Frequently Asked Questions

  • We incorporate herbs into the design of your floral bouquet. At times herbs will be included that are particularly well-suited to rooting in water. Whenever this occurs we will indicate which herbs to root and how to best go about it. There's nothing better than a two-fer: especially when it's a beautiful floral display followed by herbs you can grow yourself!

  • A big part of using herbs successfully in floral design is harvesting them at the right time, and conditioning them in ways that suit each particular herb. Because we love the flowers of herbs we allow many of our herbs to bloom, as opposed to harvesting them solely for their leaves. This allows us to harvest the plant when it has reached full maturity and has gone 3/4 of its way through its entire life cycle. We find this provides a much more sturdy plant, able to handle harvest, transport and vase life much better. By growing many of the herbs we use in our designs, we are also able to control both the when and the how: after harvest, herbs are immediately placed in water in a cool environment, with our studio-made 100% natural and non-toxic herb/flower food. This nourishes the cut herbs and greatly lengthens their time in the vase.

  • Yes. Although herbs are center-stage in our designs, they are greatly enhanced by a plethora of other seasonal flowers and foliage--and at times fruits, vegetables and branches, too! Nothing is off the table in the design process, as long as it is grown locally, and is seasonally available.

  • Your subscription is paid for upfront. But travel is inevitable and we're glad you're out seeing the world! If you give us at least two days' notice before the next bouquet date, we will be happy to hold your bouquet. When you return you can choose to have two bouquets delivered on the next date, or we can add an extra bouquet to the end of your CSA time period.

  • Although as a small design studio we as yet only deliver our CSA subscription bouquets, we're happy to speak with you about a custom order, & have you pick it up from our centrally-located Seattle home studio. (So the lucky recipient of your gift should be local, too.) Please visit our contact page, fill out the form with what you have in mind, and we'll chat!

  • We work out of our home studio in the Phinney Ridge/Greenwood neighborhood. We're close to Ballard, Greenlake, Fremont and Wallingford and, as we're only one block off Greenwood Avenue, we're easy to get to. Our exact address is provided only to those who are picking up custom orders or CSA bouquets. (It's our home, too, so we don't put it out there on the internet.)
